Endoscopic Management of Perforations in the Gastrointestinal Tract.

چکیده
PF It is difficult to say how often perforations occur, as it depends on the type of endoscopic procedure being performed. The most common cause of perforation is iatrogenic, such as when an endoscopist removes a les ion, cuts a little too deep, and causes a perforation. In many cases, the perforations are small and can be closed during the procedure with no adverse events. In an advanced endoscopy unit in which large lesions are removed from the esophagus, stomach, and colon, the perforation rate can be as high as 5%; however, the majority of perforations have no negative outcome on the procedure or the patient.

متن کاملAnastomotic leaks following gastrointestinal surgery: updates on diagnosis and interventions
Gastrointestinal surgery-associated anastomotic leaks and luminal perforations can be life-threatening events with high mortality and morbidity rates. In order to get a favorable outcome, early diagnosis and prompt therapy are necessary. In these conditions, the ‘gold standard’ approach to treatment in the past was surgery. However, surgical procedures are associated with higher re-intervention...

Open Access Recently, as the numbers of diagnostic endoscopic procedures and therapeutic procedures such as endoscopic mu-cosal resection (EMR), endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), and full-thickness resection of subepithelial tumors are increasing, the incidence of iatrogenic perforations is also increasing. The use of natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) techniques also...
متن کاملIatrogenic oesophageal perforation during placement of an endoscopic vacuum therapy device
Endoscopic vacuum-assisted closure (VAC) is increasingly being used as a means of managing perforations or anastomotic leaks of the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Published outcomes are favourable, with few mentions of complications or morbidity. We present a case in which the management of a gastric perforation with endoscopic vacuum therapy was complicated by cervical oesophageal perforat...

Anastomotic leakages and esophageous perforations remain to be severe complications of the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Reported leak rates after esophagectomy vary widely from 1% to 30% [1]. According to the severity of the anastomotic leakage, the time interval after primary surgery, the general condition of the patient and/or the anastomotic location several treatment options are avail...
